Developing Healthy Habits and a Mindset for Success

Develop healthy habits

Most people understand that we are creatures of habit. But what they don’t realize is that there are actually two kinds of habits: DOING habits and NOT-DOING habits.

Everything you are not doing right now, you are in the habit of not doing. The only way to change these not-doing habits into doing habits is to DO them.

Reading will assist you, but it’s a whole different world when you go from reading to taking action. If you are truly serious about success, prove it, and do the actions suggested.

As the ancient Greek philosopher and scientist, Aristotle, famously put it:

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.

We wake up in the morning, we get dressed, we go to work and we make dinner. We may even go to the gym, take vitamins and call our mothers on Sundays.

Part of living a healthy lifestyle is transforming our knowledge and inspiration into good daily habits.

Teachers, medical professionals, life coaches, entrepreneurs and just about every successful person stress the importance of developing good habits.

Good habits allow us to reach our goals and help us set a foundation for our daily living. Habits become such a part of our routine that they become who we are.

But just as much as we exist on good habits, we also exist on bad habits, too.

Smoking, drinking, over-eating, over-spending, not being active, tardiness, stealing, lying, are all habits that can be easily formed as well.

It’s easy to lose focus and momentum to reach our life goals when we’re overwhelmed with feelings of being trapped in our bad habits.

It can seem like an impossible task to change our habits and mindset. You can feel like it would just be easier to quit, give up and remain in an idle state.

But with intention and discipline, we can work towards changing our mindset and transforming our daily routines until they become second nature.

Follow these simple strategies to get your mindset and thinking on track:

  • Think Success, Don’t Think Failure. Thinking success conditions your mind to create plans that produce success. Thinking failure does the exact opposite. Failure thinking conditions the mind to think other thoughts that produce failure.
  • Remind Yourself Regularly That You are Better Than You Think You Are. Successful people are not supermen or superwomen. Success does not require a super-intellect. Nor is there anything mystical about success. And success isn’t based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do. NEVER sell yourself short!
  • Believe Big! The size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. Big ideas and big plans are often easier (certainly no more difficult) than small ideas and small plans.

Developing a mindset of healthy habits will benefit your life and business. It will help you identify your goals, the means you’ll need to achieve success and create a solid foundation that will last the rest of your life.
